Football Ferns welcome back stars in squad for Cup of Nations

The international comebacks of three key players for Tom Sermanni's Football Ferns has been confirmed, with Abby Erceg, Katie Duncan and Emma Kete all returning to the squad for the upcoming Cup of Nations.

Former captain Erceg has come out of retirement for the second time, with the veteran defender previously unhappy with the treatment of players under former coach Andreas Heraf.

With the Austrian since replaced by Sermanni, Erceg, along with midfielder Duncan and striker Kete will done the silver fern once more.

Elsewhere, New Zealand under-17s goalkeeper Anna Leat returns to the squad following her heroics in Uruguay, while the duo of Amber Hearn and Hannah Wilkonson are unavailable with injury.

"We are really pleased with the experience and quality we have named in this squad," Sermanni said.

"We know that it is going to be a tough challenge against three world-class sides, but this will be an ideal test for us as we continue our build-up for the Women's World Cup."

The Football Ferns have been drawn against Argentina, South Korea and hosts Australia in next month's tournament, ahead of June's World Cup in France.
