A man received critical injuries in an alleged assault in the Christchurch suburb of St Albans tonight.
Police are seeking information from witnesses following the incident which they say happened shortly before 6pm on a driveway outside a property on Malvern Street.
One man received critical injuries, and another has been arrested and will be appearing in Christchurch District Court on Monday, Acting Detective Inspector Mike Ford said in a statement.
He said the incident is believed to be an isolated event between two men known to each other and police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the matter.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw the alleged assault, particularly anyone who was driving on Malvern Street between Cranford Street and Roosevelt Avenue at the time.
