One person dead, power outages, after car crashes into power pole in Northland

One person has died and power is out for some, after a car hit a power pole in Northland this evening.

Emergency services were called to an incident on Far North Road, Waipapakauri, at around 8.04pm, a police spokesperson said.

No-one else was in the car.

The Serious Crash Unit have been advised and will be assisting an investigation into the crash.

Far North Road is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

A Top Energy spokesperson told 1 NEWS 111 people have been affected by the power cut.
