Seven people injured in two-car crash near Huka Falls

Seven people have been injured in a two-car crash at Wairakei, in Taupo District today.

The crash happened at the intersection of Wairakei Drive and Huka Falls Rd, near Huka Falls at 5.02pm.

A St John spokesperson says four people were flown to Waikato Hospital - three in a serious condition and one in a moderate condition.

A further three people were transported by ambulance to Taupo Hospital in a moderate condition.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
