A man has been rushed to hospital after a brawl broke out next to Auckland's Sky Tower this afternoon.

St John says a man has been taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition after an incident near the Sky Tower around 4pm.

An eye witness, who didn’t want to be named, said she saw a group of about seven people, including two women, fighting on the corner of Federal Street and Victoria St West.

Police say they were called to a report of an altercation between two groups of people.

A man received minor injuries, from what is believed be a glass bottle, during the fight.

Video taken by 1 NEWS shows a visible pool of blood outside a coffee shop on the end of Federal Street.
