A father and son have been rescued this morning, after their boat was swamped by waves about one kilometre north of Collingwood Bar, Golden Bay.
After his marine radio failed to work, the 65-year-old man phoned his wife. He and his 33-year-old son were later rescued by a local volunteer force.
The pair were transported to hospital and treated for mild hypothermia.
"This was another great rescue by our local volunteers and a good reminder to check your safety equipment before heading out," Senior Constable Jonathan Davies says.
The pair were in the water for an hour before rescue. Both were wearing lifejackets.
