ASB Classic drawcard Eugenie Bouchard has breezed through the tournament's first round, defeating the USA's Madison Brengle in straight sets.
Taking to centre court, Bouchard needed just over an hour to complete the 6-3, 6-3 win, easing into the third round due to having a bye.
Bouchard's beaten opponent Brengle is most notable for her defeat of Serena Williams at the same tournament two years ago.

Puig, 25, eased to a victory in her tournament opener, with a straight sets win, taking the match 6-3, 6-2.
Meanwhile, the ASB Classic's 2017 champion Lauren Davis has breezed into the second round of the Auckland tournament, earning a straight sets win over Spain's Lara Arruabarrena this afternoon.
Davis also managed a straight sets victory, taking her first match of this year's tournament 6-2, 6-2.
