Police investigating as Matamata woman found dead, baby in critical condition

Waikato Police are investigating a death of a woman in Matamata earlier today.

Emergency services were called to the house at 1pm, with a man who was known to the woman taken into custody, police confirmed.

A baby at the property has also been injured and has been airlifted to hospital.

The child is in critical condition and in intensive care at Waikato Hospital, authorities said.
