A lucky couple from New Plymouth has been announced as the winners of a $20,000 Aladdin wedding.
Breakfast weather presenter Matty McLean was joined by Aladdin the musical star Graeme Isaako, who plays the title role, to surprise Kevin and Tracey at home with the news of their win.
Tracey, who appeared to be shaking, was gobsmacked following the news as she says, "Oh my God, we won it? Oh my God! Oh my God!" as she excitedly hugs her partner Kevin.
She said she felt "overwhelmed", while Kevin, who had a wide smile across his face, said he wasn't sure how to feel yet.
Tracey said the couple entered the competition because "why not?"
"We've been together coming up seven years", she says.
"It just looked quite fun," Kevin quips.
"Yeah, it looked like a blast and, as you can see, we're DIYers and we’ve only just moved in together."
"There's no backing out now, Kevin!" Matty says as he gives the couple time to digest the news.
The couple will be married live on the Aladdin the musical stage during Breakfast's first show of the year, on January 25.
Breakfast’s Matty will serve as the couple’s celebrant.
