Disgraced former Australian captain Steve Smith has starred in an advert for Vodafone revolved around the Australian cricket ball-tampering saga.
Smith fronts in the ad, labelled Gutsy is Calling, speaking about how it's okay to be honest, own up to mistakes and a will to overcome difficult times - all themes the batsman can relate to after his 12-month ban for the role he played in the ball-tampering scandal in March.
Former vice captain David Warner and batsman Cameron Bancroft were also involved in the action during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town and handed bans, but Vodafone have only used the Smith for their ad.
The commercial uses audio and video from his emotional press conference after the saga, but also shows him playing for his local club and coaching kids.
"It was just about being upfront and honest and taking responsibility," he says to a group of boys at one point.
"It's okay to be vulnerable. Everyone makes mistakes; it's about the way you respond to it that's really important."
Smith will be able to return from his 12 month ban in March.
