Police have arrested a man in Christchurch after he fled in a van, hitting a number of patrol cars as he drove away.
At approximately 8.10am Christchurch police were called to a suspicious vehicle on Ferry Road who fled when the police approached him.
Police followed the vehicle around the Woolston and Opawa suburbs.
The offending driver hit several police vehicles before eventually coming to a stop on Hawford Road, Opawa, where he was arrested.
He faces a charge of aggravated failing to stop and further charges are likely.
