Brendon McCullum's BBL campaign off to rough start, loses wicket for just four runs

December 20, 2018

Brendon McCullum's first match in this season's Big Bash League did not go to plan with the former Black Caps captain dismissed for just four runs in the Brisbane Heat's five wicket loss.

McCullum started the night with a hiss and a roar after smacking Adelaide pacer Billy Stanlake for four with the first ball of the match, but his trademark aggression would get the better of him on the very next delivery.

The 37-year-old advanced down the crease to try and get the jump on Stanlake's delivery but misread the bounce and top-edged the ball sky high.

It resulted in a simple catch for the wicketkeeper behind.

The Heat went on to post 146 in their innings with new captain Chris Lynn top-scoring with 33 runs.

Adelaide managed to chase down the total with five ball and five wickets to spare to claim the win while spinner Rashid Khan claimed man of the match honours after taking three wickets for 19 runs in four overs of work.
