Former Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum has been left out in the cold after this year's Indian Premier League auctions where he has gone unsold for the first time in his career.
McCullum was one of 11 Kiwis who went unsold overnight but things were more positive for Lockie Ferguson and Martin Guptill.
Ferguson was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for approximately NZ$330,000 while Guptill went to Sunrisers Hyderabad for $NZ200,000.
Ferguson proved to be hot property after a strong ODI series against Pakistan last month, with several bids being placed by teams before Kolkata finally claimed him.
Guptill on the other hand went late in the round of bidding.
McCullum will miss the IPL for the first time since it was created in 2008 where he famously opened the tournament with an unbeaten 158 from just 73 balls for Kolkata against Bangalore.
The other 10 New Zealanders to miss out were Corey Anderson, Matt Henry, Jimmy Neesham, Luke Ronchi, Doug Bracewell, Anton Devcich, Glenn Phillips, Seth Rance, Neil Wagner and Blair Tickner.
The highest sold bids of this year's auctions went to unknown Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy and Indian seamer Jaydev Unadka who went to Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan respectively for NZ$1.7 million.
The highest sold bid for an international player was Kings XI's acquisition of English all-rounder Sam Curran for NZ$1.5 million.
