A US poacher convicted of illegally killing hundreds of deer has been sentenced to watch Disney film Bambi as part of his jail sentence in what is believed to be one of the worst poaching cases in the state of Missouri.
David Berry Jr was arrested in August, along with his father and brother, for killing the animals and taking their heads, leaving the leftover carcasses to rot, BBC reports.
Berry Jr has been ordered to watch the animated children's film at least once a month for the duration of his year-long sentence, with the first viewing beginning on or before December 23 of this year.
The 1942 film follows Bambi, the titular fawn whose mother is killed by a poacher at the beginning of the film.
Berry Jr and his father's hunting privileges have also been revoked for life.
