Tom Latham brings up maiden double century for Black Caps in Sri Lanka Test

December 17, 2018

Black Caps opener Tom Latham has brought up a  double century in the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Basin Reserve.

The huge knock today has seen the hosts extend their first innings lead to 193 runs over the visitors who scored 282 in their first innings.

Latham's maiden double-ton was scored in 412 balls with the Black Caps on 475/5 at the time of writing.

Speaking after yesterday's play at the Basin Reserve, Latham was quick to deflect praise to captain Williamson, who himself stroked an effortless half-century, dismissed for 91 from 93 balls.

"He's pretty good, isn't he?" Latham began.

"He came out and hit the ball fantastically well. It made my job a lot easier just to do my thing.

"He's a world class player, and hitting the ball unbelievably at the moment in all conditions. I'm sure it will be another good summer for him."
