A shovel that was the subject of a police appeal as part of the Grace Millane investigation has been found.

The item was recovered by detectives earlier today as a result of the continued examination of CCTV footage, Detective Inspector Scott Beard of Auckland City Police said this afternoon.

The shovel was located and seized in the central west Auckland area, he said.
