Charity group The Aunties has reminded people donating clothes and goods to them that women won't wear everything given to charity - especially items like white pants.
The Aunties collect goods and clothes for people in need, especially victims of domestic abuse, and distribute them throughout Auckland.
Last year, the group said food items like canned tomatoes, chick peas, lentils and beans were less than useful, saying they were useless without additional ingredients, and urged people to give more thoughtfully.
In a post on Facebook this week, they said they were still very keen to get clothing, but suggested that people be more considerate in giving clothes, as most women will not wear certain types.
Those types included blouses, heavily-patterned or boldly-coloured clothes, skirts, office wear like blazers, anything velvet/velour, shorts, white trousers and jeans of any other colour than black or blue.
"Do not send clothes that are really old," the post read.
"TBH, if it's over 5 years old, and in not very good nick, it's no use to us.
"They won't wear just anything and why should they?" the post read.
The group suggested that the women they help are much happier receiving clothing like leggings, skinny jeans, sweatshirts, plain maxi dresses and pyjama/yoga pants.
Feedback on the post was overwhelmingly positive, with many thanking the group for being so clear in what is needed.
