Two people dead in separate lower North Island crashes

Two people have died in separate fatal crashes on State Highway One near Levin in the space of three hours today.

One person was killed in a crash involving a car and truck on the highway, north of the intersection with Waikawa Beach Road at about 7.10pm.

Police say the road is blocked and will remain closed for some time.

In an earlier crash today on State Highway One at Ohau, one person was killed.

Three other people were injured in this crash, one critically and two are in a serious condition.

Police say the road is currently blocked and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
