Watch: Agitated NFL player uses controversial 'squirrel grip' on rival's privates

November 27, 2018

An NFL player has defended a controversial action he made during a game after cameras caught him using a squirrel grip on an opponent to get him to roll away.

New England Patriots receiver Cordarrelle Patterson could face disciplinary action for grabbing the genitals of New York Jets defensive end Henry Anderson in yesterday's 27-13 win.

After Patterson gained a yard on a rush play in the fourth quarter, he was tackled by Anderson on the 24-yard line.

The 140kg linesman then proceeded to lay on top of Patterson after the play and when the receiver had enough, he squeezed Anderson below the belt until he finally rolled away.

Patterson said after the game he had every right to do it.

"I’m a grown man," he said.

"I don't need no one's a** in my face."
