Kiwi driver Brendon Hartley’s days in Formula 1 appear to be over with his team announcing two new drivers for 2019.
Red Bull Toro Rosso announced this morning that Thai-British driver Alexander Albon will join already-signed Russian Daniil Kvyat as the team’s line-up for next year, with no mention of Hartley in their 2019 plans.
There was no mention of 29-year-old Hartley in the release.
It comes after a difficult 2018 for Hartley in which he earned just four points in the F1 Driver’s Championship to finish 19th overall out of 20 drivers.
The 29-year-old remained positive throughout the year despite the results and rumours circulating his two-year contract was under threat.
Hartley made his F1 debut last season at the US Grand Prix as a stand-in driver for recently-promoted teammate Pierre Gasly, before becoming a full-time replacement for Kvyat in 2018.
