Needle found in strawberry purchased at South Canterbury supermarket

November 26, 2018
NSW authorities are investigating more than 20 incidents of needles found in strawberries.

A needle has been found in a strawberry inside a punnet purchased at a South Canterbury supermarket.

A police spokesperson said the fruit was purchased at a supermarket in Geraldine on Saturday morning.

“Police are investigating the matter."

It comes after a major scare across the Tasman after a number of needles were found in strawberry punnets earlier this year.

Needles were found in one punnet at an Auckland supermarket in September, but police were unable to find where they came from.
