Police hunt for man following aggravated robbery at New Plymouth Pizza Hut

A man wearing a balaclava and armed with a weapon robbed a New Plymouth Pizza Hut injuring one person.

Police say the incident took place just after 7pm when the man entered the Pizza Hut on Tukapa Street, Westown.

The man demanded a staff member open the till and injured a second staff member who tried to intervene.

The Pizza Hut worker received minor cuts to his hand.

Police say the offender took off on foot from the store with an amount of cash heading towards Westown School.

He then got into a car that was waiting for him.

The car drove towards Clawton Street before heading toward Frankley Road.

The car has since been located and seized for forensic examination.

Police would also like to hear from anyone in the area at the time of the robbery.
