Diver injured after being hit by boat in Wellington

A diver has been hit by a boat off the coast of Lyall Bay in Wellington this afternoon.

Police were called to the accident just before 2pm.

The diver was hit 600 metres off the shore and was taken onto a crayfishing boat as they could not swim back unaided.

The rescue helicopter has taken the diver to hospital.
