Despite their recent struggles, the All Blacks are in the best possible shape to secure a third straight World Cup title in Japan next year, according to captain Kieran Read.
Having lost to Ireland 16-9 in Dublin last week, as well as tasting defeat 36-34 at the hands of the Springboks in Wellington, the All Blacks' perceived invincibility appears to be on the wane.
However, despite those woes, Read says that everything is in place for the All Blacks to become the first team in rugby's history to win a third straight title, and fourth overall.
I think we are in good shape," Read told NZME.

"We have got a squad that is very strong. We have one of the best forward packs in the world. And look at our backs – I would say they are the most talented in the world.
"The exciting thing is that we can make some tweaks and get our game in even better shape than it is.
"It doesn't take much to flick a switch and get a five per cent lift."
Read and the All Blacks face Italy in their final match of 2018, kicking off in Rome tomorrow morning NZT.
