Driver hospitalised after car driven into sea near Nelson

A man who drove his car into the sea near Nelson this morning has been taken by ambulance to Nelson Hospital in moderate condition, authorities have told 1 NEWS.

Police were called to Boulder Bank Drive in Glenduan just after 9am.

The driver of the car managed to get to shore on his own, but emergency responders were initially unsure if anyone else was inside the vehicle.

It has since been determined he was the only occupant.
