Auckland Tuatara manager Steve Mintz has told his players they’ll win the franchise’s first game in New Zealand on the eve of the first professional baseball game in the country.
Mintz said they had been able to address a couple of things after being swept by the Heat in Perth in the first series of the season last weekend.
They start their series against the Brisbane Bandits tomorrow.

“(We) had a couple of games that we had our hands on but just kind of let slip,” he told Breakfast.
“As I was telling the guys, ‘you know what we get to win our first game in New Zealand,’” he added.
Mintz said as well as performing on the field, he was aiming for the team to educate Kiwis in a sport that was foreign to most.
“We want to grow the sport and educate the fans, there’s a lot of fans who don’t really know how to play baseball or what’s going on,” he said.
