A beachside apartment block in Tenerife has been evacuated after enormous waves as high as 6m generated by a storm caused extensive damage to the building on the Canary Islands.
A video showed a wave crash into the building, ripping balconies away from the building.
The Mar y Sol building is in the town of Mesa del Mar, a popular holiday spot, the BCC reported.
The local council said 67 apartments in the block had been evacuated, with nearby beaches, roads and pools also closed.
An alert for a strong storm was issued on Saturday.
