Baby dies after 10-year-old girl stomps on his head at US daycare centre

A baby has died after a 10-year-old girl allegedly dropped him to the floor and stomped on his head at a Wisconsin daycare center.

The father of the boy says the young girl is a criminal and deserves to be put in handcuffs.

Two days after he suffered severe injuries at the center, Jaxon Liedl just six months old was pronounced dead in hospital on November 1.

The 10-year-old girl cried as she was brought into a courtroom in handcuffs last week. She is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, according to the Daily Mail.

Jaxon’s father Nate Liedl told ABC7 that when he went to court he wanted the little girl to see his face.

“As opposed to seeing it as a 10-year-old girl, I saw it as the person who killed my son,”

“ She, in my opinion, deserved to be in shackles or handcuffs. She’s a criminal,” Liedl said.

He says the daycare is not at fault for his sons death.

The girl, who is a foster child living in the daycare center, was alone in the house at the time when everyone else was outside playing, police said.

She told investigators that she picked Jaxon up and then panicked when she dropped him on the ground.

The girl then allegedly told police she stomped on his head when Jaxon started crying.

Paramedics then arrived at the scene to find Jaxon unresponsive and bleeding from his head.

His father was unaware of what had taken place and happened to arrive at the daycare center just as Jaxon was being rushed away in an ambulance.

Liedl said he followed the ambulance to the hospital and found his son in a state worse than he had imagined.

"They had mentioned what are we going to do if his heart stops, and it caught me completely off guard. I had sent a couple messages out to family to let them know that Jaxon's not going to make it. I remember, I broke down out there pretty bad. Yeah, it really hit hard,

"I waited 37 years for my own little baby boy. I was extremely lucky because he didn't cry, no fussing, he was happy smiles all the time," Liedl said.

Jaxon’s funeral was held on Thursday (local time).

The girl charged with his murder will face court again on December 11.
