Diver dies off Mahia Peninsula after friends unable to revive him

A diver has died after getting into trouble at Blacks Reef on Mahia Peninsula, Hawke's Bay this morning.

Police say the Wairoa man, in his thirties, was taken out of the water by his diving buddies around 10:30am.

The diver was taken to a nearby boat ramp by his friends where they were met by emergency services. 

He was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
