An unborn baby has survived after a man shot and killed its mother in the stomach with a crossbow in east London.
Sara Muhammad, 35, was eight months pregnant but her baby survived after being delivered safely by an emergency caesarean section.
According to the BBC, the Met police said the baby was in a stable condition in hospital after the attack, on Monday (local time).
Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, 50, has been charged with her murder and is due to appear in court on Thursday.
The victim’s husband Imtiaz Muhammad told the Evening Standard she was killed in front of her five other children in the family home.
"I can't help thinking she took my arrow. Maybe it should have hit me. The kids were all there, it was horrific."
In a tribute to his wife Mr Muhammad said, “She was a wonderful mother and wife. We were together seven years. I am heartbroken we were inseparable.”
