Person killed after being struck by train in Upper Hutt

One person has died after being hit by a train in Upper Hutt today.

The incident occurred on Ward Street, near Wallaceville Station, at around 11.15am.

Police are in attendance and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating.

Metlink says train services have been replaced by bus between Trentham and Upper Hutt following the incident.
