As the All Blacks prepare for a first Test showdown with England in four years, a lack of familiarity won't extend to one face well known to most of the side.
Former Hurricanes captain Brad Shields is now part of the English squad and looks right at home in his new country, but admits he's still getting used to the lingo.
"I usually call a loose forward a loosie but over here they're back row, second row, front row - not the locks and loosies so I keep getting mixed up with that sort of stuff," Shields told 1 NEWS.
Shields, 27, has English heritage and was fast-tracked into Eddie Jones' squad in June after leaving the Hurricanes this season.
A broken cheek then set him back but, fit again, he made his Twickenham debut in a tense 12-11 victory against South Africa last Sunday (NZT), and cherished every moment.
"It was just an amazing experience to be able to put a jersey on and play at that stadium and I've always wondered what it would've been like."
He's hoping he'll get his second Twickenham appearance this weekend against the All Blacks, and English assistant coach Steve Borthwick says his input has already been impressive.
"Very experienced, very humble, very respectful," Borthwick said.
Shields finds out later today if he'll be part of Sunday's Test which kicks off at 4am NZT.
