Emergency services have been through a busy night, responding to more than 40 separate firework-related call outs.

A total of 48 incidents were reported overnight across New Zealand, taking the total since Friday last week to over 100, the highest since 2013.

A Northern Fire and Emergency spokesperson says they received no reports of injury last night.

She also said between 8pm-10pm was the area busiest period with 54 calls - 45 of them related to fireworks.

Although the official date to celebrate Guy Fawkes is November 5, it is expected that there will be more fireworks displays over the coming nights.
