It's being dubbed the diamond of the honey world - a Kiwi company has unveiled the highest grade Mānuka honey available in New Zealand aimed at the tourist market.
But not just any tourists. The rare ultra-strength brew comes with a price tag of $1800 a jar.
The rare high-grade honey takes the term liquid gold to a whole new level.
Encased in an 18 carat rose gold-plated box with gold spoon, it's the extreme end of luxury.
"Much like a vintage wine or a 50-year-old whisky, people are seeking the best. And a limited reserve can offer that," Sam Haines, Mānuka South brand manager told 1 NEWS.
At $1800 for a 250 gram jar, Mānuka South says its ultra-strength honey is among the most expensive in the world and boasts a unique Mānuka factor of 28-plus.
"That measures the natural markers found in Mānuka honey, starting at 5-plus. A UMF of 28-plus is 0.01 per cent of the total Mānuka harvest," Mr Haines said.
With just 300 jars available, the company expects the value to go even higher as it's snapped up.
But they're keeping tight-lipped about just how they gained the premium UMF levels.
"I won't give away that secret. But it is harvested in unique areas that are high density Mānuka forest that are located by helicopter," Mr Haines said.
So is it any better for you?
"Generally talking, yes," he said.
As for the taste, 1 NEWS reporter Donna-Marie Lever, decided there was only one way to find out - at around $36 per teaspoon.
"That's yum," was her verdict after tasting the honey.
"And it's not really the sort of situation you can go in for seconds," our reporter added.
