Six men charged with murder of Whanganui man

Six men have been charged with the murder of Whanganui man James Butler.

Mr Butler was found dead at a Wikitoria Road property in Whanganui on April 22.

Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Forlong said police have arrested seven people over his death in total.

The six men charged with murder were also charged with aggravated robbery and assault of another man who was wounded at the property.

A further man has been charged as an accessory after that fact relating to Mr Butler's death.

All seven men are due to appear in court today.

Police earlier said Mr Butler's death was not a random incident and those involved knew each other.
