The man who snapped the $300,000 Len Lye water whirler has been charged with wilful damage.
Police confirmed to 1 NEWS that they issued a summons for a 28-year-old man to appear in Wellington District Court.
Hunter McDonald confessed yesterday to climbing the art installation, saying he was "bored" and "there wasn't a sign that says don't climb".
