Kiwi Ferns veteran Honey Hireme believes women's rugby league is growing from strength to strength.

The 37-year-old says being part of the women's inaugural NRL competition was perfect preparation for the Kiwi Ferns ahead of their Test against the Jillaroos on Saturday.

"That competition has helped us build into this Test match, with the four teams being part of that NRL women's competition," said Hireme.

"The majority of all our players have actually come out of those four teams to then join our Kiwi Ferns side.

"We've got six girls that won the grand final (Brisbane Broncos), the first ever grand final for the women's NRL."

The Kiwi Ferns are part of a triple-header against trans-Tasman rivals Australia, with the Junior Kiwis and Kiwis men also playing on the same day at Mount Smart Stadium on Saturday.

"I think it is massive for us, I mean if you reflect back on the All Blacks game when the Black Ferns were (part of) a double header."

The Black Ferns played Australia in August at Eden Park before the All Blacks took on the Wallabies.

"This is very similar, it's a triple-header. To be able to play alongside the boys and that is just huge for us, huge for the women's game."

Hireme says the Kiwi Ferns side are clicking really well at training.

"Just all the girls have come together and brought all their experiences from the NRL competition and we seem to be humming quite well at training."

The Junior Kiwis take on the Junior Kangaroos at 3:05pm, with the Kiwi Ferns facing off against the Jillaroos at 5:15pm before the Kiwis take on the Kangaroos at 7:45pm this Saturday.
