The Queen will move out of Buckingham Palace as it undergoes a restoration expected to cost somewhere around NZ$751m.
The Queen's husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, 97, is overseeing the project himself, after retiring from public life last year.
Thousands of pieces of furniture and art will be systematically move to accommodate the project.
It's expected that the restoration could take the better part of a decade to complete.
It's understood that Charles, Prince of Wales, is also keenly involved in the project, and has expressed an interest in making the palace more energy efficient.
