One dead in crash on SH1 south of Foxton

One person has died in a crash on State Highway 1 just south of Foxton.

Police first reported the serious crash at about 4.20pm, saying it was blocking both lanes of the road.

In an update, they have confirmed one person has died.

The road is still blocked and there will be significant delays, police say.

Drivers are being urged to take alternative routes.
