Help is wanted to identify those responsible for a violent attack on 14-year-old boy in Masterton last Friday.
Police say the boy was walking along Church Street alone when he was knocked to the ground and assaulted by a group of at least three people at 9.30pm on September 21.
They say they understand a member of the public may have seen the assault and yelled out at the attackers, who have then run from the scene.
The victim then walked home to his house and a family member took him to hospital for treatment for moderate injuries.
Police say they would urgently like to speak to the member of the public who intervened.
