Otago have earned a much needed win against fellow Mitre 10 Cup Championship side Northland, sneaking home winners 27-23 in Dunedin.
The back-and-forth contest went down to the wire but the hosts managed to secure the win thanks to a fine kicking performance from Josh Ioane.
Ioane's boot collected 12 points thanks to three conversions and two penalties.
He was backed by a strong outing from winger Jona Nareki, who scored the try of the night with a stellar finish in the left corner.
Nareki managed to catch a skip pass that was headed behind him thanks to a spin move before he made his way to the try line with a step and stretch to plant the ball.
The win is Otago's second from four games in 2018 while Northland suffered their third loss.
