Cory Scott Jefferies has been sentenced to at least 11 years in prison for murdering his partner Kim Richmond.

He was sentenced at the High Court in Hamilton, showing little emotion.

Ms Richmond disappeared on July 31, 2016, after watching rugby and drinking with friends at the Arohena Hall in Waikato.

The couple left early the next morning, and stopped close to their home.

Cell phone data showed the vehicle travelled to Lake Arapuni at driving pace, and then returned at a walking speed.

Her badly decomposed body was found nearly a year later when the couple’s ute was pulled from the lake.

Today a victim impact statement was read to the court by Ms Richmond’s mother.

Raywynne Richmond told the court her daughter’s death had a huge affect on her daughter’s three children.

She told the court Jefferies never helped search for Ms Richmond when she was reported missing.

And was shocked when he made his daughter call her mum following her disappearance.

Reading from the statement Mrs Richmond said may you "rot in prison" like you left our daughter to rot.
