Bus stop blocking two homes 'not a good look' for Auckland Transport or Council, local body politician says

September 6, 2018

A bus stop blocking the entrance to two new houses in Auckland's Hobsonville Point development has raised concerns about the quality of planning decisions in the growing suburb.

Sharon Stewart, Auckland City Council’s Howick Ward Councillor, told 1 NEWS the positioning of the bus stop on Hobsonville Point Road is unusual and not a good look for Auckland Transport or the Council.

"It seems Auckland Transport is putting bus stops in really weird places without considering the properties they are in front of," she said.

Another bus stop in Pakuranga is just as awkwardly placed, she added.

Auckland Transport said in a statement the shelter was installed in 2015, before the houses were built.

The bus shelter will be moved in the next week at the cost of the developer, the agency said.
