Warriors winger David Fusitu'a is on the verge of creating history at the New Zealand NRL club as the top try-scorer in the competition, after his hat-trick against the Penrith Panthers last week.

The 23-year-old has scored 21 tries so far in the 2018 NRL season.

Fusitu’a has surpassed club legend Manu Vatuvei who scored 20 tries in the 2010 season.

Francis Meli holds the Warriors club record of 23 tries in single season, but five of his tries came during the play-off games.

The Warriors winger has signed a five-year extension with the New Zealand side, which sees him stay at the NRL team until the end of 2023.

"It's nothing that I set out to do at the start of the year but yeah, I'm pretty stoked with it and it's pretty cool to see the faith that the club has in me," Fusitu'a told NRL.com.

"There's a lot of ways where I can get better every week and that's just what I'm trying to do."

The Warriors play their final round game of the season against the Canberra Raiders tomorrow night at sold out Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland.
