Kangaroos coach and rugby league immortal Mal Meninga is backing the Warriors to make a deep run into this year's NRL playoffs - and believes they could even win it all.

Meninga, who won three premierships with the Canberra Raiders, told Fox Sports with the inconsistent form of many of the top eight teams, the Kiwi club has the talent to win their first title.

"I think the Warriors can do it," Meninga said.

"I said before the season kicked off that they were a chance of making the eight…they are a very dangerous football team.

"We've seen most teams have been inconsistent all year really.

"When the Warriors are on they are on."

He did make sure to reiterate however that this year seemed like anyone's year.

"I think anyone in the top eight can win the competition, that’s how great the competition is at the moment," he said.

The Warriors play the Raiders on Friday night at Mount Smart Stadium needing a win to push for a home playoff game next week.
