A Perth grandmother is lucky to be alive after a car slammed into her home.

The vehicle ploughed through two walls, and pinned the 61-year-old against a brick wall.

It took more than half an hour for emergency workers to free her from the rubble.

It's thought a mattress she was sleeping on absorbed much of the impact.

The driver refused a blood alcohol test at the scene, and was thought to be travelling at twice the speed limit.
