Former All Blacks coach John Mitchell is reportedly set to join the England staff as Eddie Jones' new defence coach.
Netwerk24 reports the 54-year-old is replacing the recently departed Paul Gustard with South African Super Rugby club the Bulls, who Mitchell currently coaches, working on a transfer fee with the England RFU for the Kiwi.
Mitchell still has one year remaining on his Super Rugby contract but his first year at the helm was rocky with the side only earning six wins in their campaign, leaving them last in the South African conference.
It would be Mitchell's second stint with England having previously worked under Sir Clive Woodward as the forwards coach from 1997 to 2000.
Mitchell left the gig and took over the All Blacks a year later in 2001, overseeing the team until after the 2003 Rugby World Cup where they were knocked out by the Wallabies in the semi-finals.
