It's a bit wet and wild out there for many parts of the North Island today, and the dreary weather could linger in some areas for the rest of the working week.
Heavy rain is currently falling or expected today in Auckland, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and further south in Nelson, says TVNZ1 Breakfast weatherman Matty McLean.
The rain watches will remain in place for Bay of Plenty and Gisborne through Friday.
Meanwhile, strong wind is expected today in Nelson, Buller and Westland.
Drizzle is expected this morning in Dunedin and Oamaru, with heavier rain setting in after lunch. Canterbury is also expected to have a wet day.
"Tomorrow's looking wet across the North Island, with heavier falls around Bay of Plenty and Gisborne," Mr McLean said. "You'll see rain in the South Island's south and west as well, but it's mostly fine everywhere else."
