Warriors fans will be able to attend club legend Simon Mannering's 300th game for the club for as little as five dollars, able to pay what they want for Friday's clash with the Canberra Raiders at Mt Smart Stadium.
As Mannering, who turns 32 today, prepares to notch up his triple century of appearances for the Auckland side, the Warriors want to ensure that fans of all ages are able to honour the achievement in person, aiming to fill Mt Smart for the final round robin game of the current season.
Warriors CEO Cameron George confirmed the move, hoping to see as many fans at Mt Smart to thank the departing Mannering, who will retire from the NRL at the end of this season.
"Fans can pay what they want between $5 and $50 to see Simon off," explained George.
"If you think he's worth $20 you can pay $20 or if you think he's worth $50 you can pay that.
"We're putting the recognition for Simon first above and beyond any cash-grabbing exercise or anything like that given the nature of the game and occasion."
"The public can come and pay tribute to one of the game's greatest and one of if not the greatest Warrior of all time.
"We're giving fans and Kiwi sports lovers a chance to send off a national hero by paying what they think it is worth.
Depending on the make-up of this year's finals, Friday's clash could also be Mannering's last game in front of the Mt Smart faithful.
