Warriors veteran Simon Mannering still can't quite believe the milestone he's set to bring up against the Raiders this weekend.
The 31-year-old will become the first player in Warriors history to rack up 300 NRL games for the club after surpassing club legend Stacey Jones' record for most appearances last year.
Mannering admitted today it's a bit of a shock.
"Those sorts of things, you never set out to achieve in your career," he said.
"It's a tough game, it's getting tougher and tougher and I'm surprised I lasted this long, to be honest."
The second rower said he still remembers his 2005 debut against the Brisbane Broncos in round 16.
"Your debut, you never forget," he said.
"Even though I've played a fair few games after then, it's still probably one of my favourite games.
"I got to come into a side where I got to play alongside some players I looked up to. I wasn't long out of school and playing alongside some legends of the game - Stacey [Jones] was finishing his time at the time at the club and I got to play with him.
"Stuff like that makes it really special."
Mannering will become the 34th player in NRL history to reach the milestone when he runs out onto Mount Smart Stadium on Friday night, but just the 13th player to do so with one club.
He announced in July 2018 would be his last season as he has decided to retire from all forms of the game at the end of this year.
